While staying on the North Shore of Oahu this past February, I met the most beautiful woman I had ever seen. Her name was Viviana. She was staying in my cabin at the hostel with her younger brother. They are both professional body boarders from Chile. She was the national champion from her country and her younger brother was an up and coming grom. They were both competing in the Mike Stewart Pipeline contest.

I remember the day she arrived. A professional photographer from Puerto Escondido walked into our cabin and remembered who I was from the days when I was competing. It was cool to finally see someone I knew. I was the lone wolf from California staying there so I was pretty much a loner. We started talking about old times. The Australians staying in the cabin didn’t like it that we were talking in Spanish. So hilarious…

Then I hear a beautiful voice saying, Hola. I turned, looked to the doorway and it was the most beautiful woman I’ve ever seen. I was lost in the moment. Sun colored bronze skin, sun colored bronze hair and green eyes. I was in complete awe. All the shit I was struggling with from my break up, completely disappeared. Vanished…

I had deactivated my Facebook account because I was off the grid. She wanted to connect on Facebook, but I refused to activate my account. Probably the biggest mistake I could have ever made.

Every night I played guitar for her on the beach. It was quite romantic and amazing to be hanging out with her. Especially since there was a minor language barrier because I’m not 100% fluent in spanish. I’ll never forget those memories. I’ve tried to find her on social media with no success. I guess I’ll be going to North Shore next February to try and find her. Epic Fail…
